Charlotte Barraclough joined Future Worlds Center as an Intern on October 23, 2013. Charlotte works with Yiannis Laouris, Maria Georgiou, and the Global Education Unit as a whole.


Short Bio

Charlotte began as a volunteer with the Future Worlds Centre in October 2013. An expressed interest in the Israeli Palestinian conflict has allowed her to observe and participate with the Act Beyond Borders project, which is run by the Centre.
Charlotte completed her undergraduate Bachelors degree with a double major in Politics & History at the University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand in 2011. Her main field of interest during her undergraduate was; Russian history, international relations of the 20th century, as well as eastern European regional history & politics.
In 2013 she began her post graduate diploma in Peace & Conflict Studies with the National Centre for Peace and Conflict at the University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand. During the course of the year she honed her interest in conflict resolution and development studies. Learning about alternative development models excites Charlotte considerably, and it is her goal to be able to complement the current development tradition with contextual systems that foster positive peace. There are numerous examples of programmes which are on their way to achieving meaningful peace and development. She feels honoured to be able to be involved with the Future World Centre, Act Beyond Borders project, as the Israeli Palestinian Conflict is of considerable interest and concern to her.
She is very interested in youth & education programmes and is keen to learn more about the Future Worlds Centre education programme and how their projects contribute to peace and conflict resolution.
She hopes to ultimately complete a research Masters in Peace & Conflict Studies which combines;small scale projects, alternative models of dialogue, resolution and development, and how youth can become motivated and involved in their own futures for a more peaceful, equal and cohesive global community.
