On the occasion of World Refugee Day 2015, Future Worlds Center successfully organised the 2nd annual Street Festival on the 17th of June, at Faneromeni Square in Old Nicosia. The festival is co-organised with the Representation of United Nations High Commission for Refugees in Cyprus, and is held in collaboration with Cypriot organizations and refugee communities. This Festival aimed to celebrate the rich culture brought by refugees to every host society, to raise awareness on refugee issues, and to strengthen the solidarity between the Cypriot and refugee communities.

This year’s celebration included:

• Art & craft exhibition by Cypriot & refugee communities • Traditional food prepared by refugee communities living in Cyprus • Kids’ corner to entertain young people • Information stands by participating organisations • World Music played by Claudio

The participant organizations were: Association of Recognized Refugees (Cyprus), Refugee Rights Association, Cyprus Stop Trafficking, Caritas Cyprus-Migrant Centre, Accept – LGBT Cyprus, Office of Cyprus Ombudsman, University of Nicosia, Hope For Children UNCRC Policy Center, Cyprus Red Cross Society, Sophia Foundation for Children, Oasis Project, KISA-Action for Equality, Support, Antiracism.
