Description

On the 05 of April 2012 a conference/workshop at Engomi High School was organized in the context of CyberEthics GIII: Island-wide combined Safer Internet Awareness Node, Hotline, Helpline.


Program

The conference started with a welcoming address from the Head-mister of the Engomi High School Mr. Aristos Aristotelous, the Minister of the of the Ministry of Education & Culture Mr. Giorgo Dimosthenous and the President of the Engomi School Parents Association Mr. Haris Mauromoustakakis. Then, there was a presentation on the "Opportunities and Challenges on the Internet" by Anastasia Economou (Cyprus Pedagogical Institute), Iliada Spyrou (Safer Internet Helpline Coordinator) and Vanessa Antoniadou (Microsoft Cyprus). After the presentation followed a workshop in where 20 young volunteers were trained in order to become peer coaches for the safer use of the Internet. These students with our guidance are now ready to take action and raise awareness of their peers and also their parents on internet safety.
