Maria joined the FWC team in August 2012.
Bio and Activities
Ms. Maria Kakoulaki is an active Journalist and her experience includes all types of media, (i.e. Press, Radio Production, Web Publishing, TV Production, News Broadcasting). She has participated in several European Conferences Seminars and Workshops on topics related to human rights, racism, discrimination, gender equaluity and media technologies. Her academic background includes inter-disciplinary subjects such as Psychology, Media Culture and Communication, Media Arts & Philosophy, Creative Entrepreneurship and she is currently a student at the Greek Open University at the department of Greek Culture and Aesthetics. She is also an active blogger (www.leregardcretois.blogspot.com), and through her blog that is called “Le Regard Democratique” she is trying to establish an interactive platform of dialogue and continuous thinking on the current predicament as well as an opportunity of deconstructing representational models and ideas and reconstructing meaning. All her work, writings and publications are focusing in searching of the truth that includes everyone and has no space for any type of exclusion, based on Systemic Democratic Dialogue and Social Networking. She is a keen supporter of the idea and the vision that only though the democratic practices of inclusion, our society can change for the better against any practices or behaviors that cultivate the ground of exclusion and differentiation of the people. She recently nominated as Board member of Institute for 21st Century Agoras, an organization which is focusing in the expansion of Democratic Dialogue and in the Designing of Sustainable Futures. She is also a member of the International Society Nikos Kazantzakis’ Friends and member of the International Association for the Reunification of the Parthenon Sculptures.
Danaë holds an MSc in Human Rights from the London School of Economics and a BA in Social Anthropology and Development Studies from the University of Sussex, UK.
