The World From Our Doorstep

The World From Our Doorstep is an innovative, 36-month (2013-2016), EU funded project designed to tackle the challenges children face in our increasingly complex and globalized societies.

About Project The World From Our Doorstep
Overall objective(s)
  • Increase public awareness and engagement global issues through formal EY education of children aged 3-8;
  • Develop outdoor and experiential learning as a means to enhance learning;
  • Introduce themes of interconnectedness, globalization, sustainability, and fairness to children in a formal education setting;
  • Support practitioners' attempts to engage students and families, through focus groups and resources;
  • Create a practitioner handbook to sustain these objectives.
Specific objective(s)
  • Raise awareness and confidence amongst pre-school and infant practitioners to integrate sustainable development and fairtrade issues into their lessons;
  • Commit youth, their families and parents, to take action in support of project related development goals;
  • Increase understanding within the EU of North-South linkages and development in the Caribbean and Sub-Saharan Africa;
  • Communicate and disseminate of the project's work, achievements and outputs, at the European level;
  • Create a practitioner handbook with resources, methodologies, and practical information, for EY practitioners interested in integrating global themes into their lessons.
