Yiannis Laouris is a social, science and business entrepreneur, a neuroscientist and systems engineer. He founded Future Worlds Center, the Cyprus Neuroscience & Technology institute, the Cyprus Society for Systemic Studies, and several high-tech companies. He is Member of the Board of the Institute for 21st Century Agoras, national representative in several COST Actions, Insafe, Inhope, EU Kids online, ECSO, Cybercrime Centre of Excellence, ECTEG – Europol, etc. He is one of the 12 authors of the ONLIFE Manifesto. Laouris promotes the application of digital technologies and structured democratic dialogue as tools to harness the collective intelligence and collective wisdom of people. His team develops systems to scale up participatory dialogic processes to engage asynchronously thousands of participants in meaningful authentic dialogues, thus accelerating institutional and societal change. Laouris has a medical degree and a PhD in Neurophysiology from Germany, and an MS in Systems and Industrial Engineering from the US. His work is published in several books, over 100 scientific papers and honored with more than 10 distinguished awards.

He Pioneers in the application of the Structured Dialogic Design Process (SDD) in the Cyprus and the Middle East peace movement and in many pan-European and global networks supporting stakeholders design their own futures. He currently focuses on the development of systems to enable scaling up the SDD process to engage asynchronously thousands in meaningful dialogue, thus accelerating positive social change. He holds an MD/PhD in neurophysiology and an MS in Systems Engineering. His work was appears in many books, scientific papers and conference talks, and was honored with numerous awards.

Ως κοινωνικός επιχειρηματίας (social entrepreneur) έχει ασχοληθεί με το δομημένο δημοκρατικό διάλογο ως μέθοδο αξιοποίησης της συλλογικής σοφίας για την επίλυση πολύπλοκλων κοινωνικών προβλημάτων. Η ομάδα του έχει αναλάβει πέραν των 30 διεθνών και/ή Ευρωπαϊκών έργων σε θέματα κοινωνικής μεταρρύθμισης. Ο Γιάννης Λαούρης έχει εκδόσει διάφορα βιβλία όπως το Masks of Demons (masksofdemons.com) το οποίο πραγματεύεται την έννοια των στεραιοτύπων. Πιο πρόσφατα έχει παρέμβει με τις "10 Εντολές Πολιτών προς Πολιτεία" (citizenscommandments.com) και συμμετέχει σε τοπικές και διεθνείς πρωτοβουλίες για μεταρρυθμίσεις στην εκπαίδευση, την πολιτική και την κοινωνία γενικότερα.
