Activities

Danaë started working at the Future Worlds Center in March 2012 as a Public Information Officer for the UNHCR funded project Strengthening Asylum for Refugees And Asylum Seekers in Cyprus. The post sought to raise awareness on refugee and asylum issues in Cyprus. In January 2014 she undertook the post of the Integration Officer through which she advocated for, and supported the integration of individuals and communities of refugees into the Cypriot society.

As part of her roles Danae assisted individuals with their residency applications, helped them navigate their way through the Cypriot labour market, and organized and facilitated a series of workshops for persons of concern (i.e. youth, female asylum seekers and refugees), helping them gain important skills, knowledge, and competencies that would enable their participation in the local communities.

Danae also held the project coordinator's role for the Rehabilitation Program for survivors of torture funded by the UNVRVT(United Nations Voluntary Fund for Victims of Torture) fund.

During her time at FWC Danae co-hosted a weekly radio show on Astra FM on the minority groups Cyprus and human rights.

Finally, she participated at numerous SDDP (Structured Dialogic Design Process) laboratories organized and facilitated by FWC and members of the SDDP Knowledge Management Team, such as:

(2012) Youth envisage and design their ideal future: What are the characteristics of the ideal socio-political system that would encourage active youth participation? Pafos, Cyprus

(2015) What are the characteristics/elements of a self-run organization of refugees and asylum seekers that best represents their interests? Nicosia, Cyprus
