Nominal group technique (NGT) is defined as a structured method for group brainstorming that encourages contributions from everyone and facilitates quick agreement on the relative importance of issues, problems, or solutions.

The NGT has been used as the method of choice to collect ideas from participants of Interactive Management or Structured Democratic Dialogue Process sessions.

The participants begin by writing down a few of their responses to the agreed Triggering Question, and they select which one they consider as their best to contribute when it is their turn. In typical NGT applications, when team members are ready, everyone presents their favorite idea, which are then discussed and prioritized by the entire group using a point system. NGT combines the importance ratings of individual group members into the final weighted priorities of the group.
