UNVFVT - United Nations Voluntary Fund for Victims of Torture, is a fund managed by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, with the advice of a Board of Trustees composed of independent experts from the five world regions. It aims to provide direct assistance to victims of torture and their family members in the forms of humanitarian, medical, psychological, legal and financial aid.
UNVFVT has been financing the Unit for the Rehabilitation of Victims of Torture project since May 2009 as a supplementary fund to support and promote the empowerment and rehabilitation of victims of torture with a focus on refugees and asylum seekers. The Unit for the Rehabilitation of Victims of Torture operates under the Humanitarian Affairs Unit of the Future Worlds Center.
