Alexis is a researcher in the fields of anthropology and emerging technologies as well as a writer of speculative ethnographic fiction. My primary research interest is on indigeneity, emerging technologies and ecology. As per requirement of my doctorate degree I conducted more than two years of ethnographic fieldwork amongst the Ngobe indigenous people of Panama. In my thesis I focused on politicisation, animism, subsistence economy, gender relations and ideas of autonomy and notions of identity. I also hold a degree in Ecology which acts a critical denominator through which I weight theoretical approaches. My recent interest focuses on Digital Humanities and the impact emerging technologies on the individual and the collective level. As part of the effort to promote SDD globally I wish to explore and examine the ways through which digital tools can be employed in Direct Democracy practices and discourses.
