Description

All teachers that participated in the trainings will be asked to implement and test their newly acquired skills and methods. A minimum of ten teachers per training will be asked to commit to the implementation and testing for a period of six months during the lifetime of the project. Their schools will be visited by the local project partner (CY, UK, IE, LT) on a monthly basis, allowing for feedback, and monitoring of the testing process. The Irish/ Scottish partner, being highly experienced in the field, will visit the Cypriot and Lithuanian schools once during this period; assisting the teachers if necessary and supporting the monitoring process (the Irish partner will visit Cyprus, whereas the Scottish partner will visit Lithuania). At the end of the testing period, teachers and students will fill out a questionnaire, giving information about their learning process, their chance of views, as well as their interest in development issues. The results will add to the overall evaluation of the project. This action of the project seeks to evaluate the methods promoted through the project, involving the end-users as well as the recipients, and through their expressed needs and feedback the project team and NGOs broadly involved will be able to improve future actions. The feed back and evaluation report will be forwarded to DEEEP so as to include the students’ and teachers’ opinion and need when designing further activities targeting this specific social group.

Results

  • DE material and activities will have been implemented in at least five schools in both Cyprus and Lithuania, and both teachers and students will have acquired new skills and knowledge about the development countries.
  • Awareness about development issues will have spread to a minimum of five school classes (150 students) in the two partner countries.
  • The monitoring process allows for a clear documentation of the testing phase and will take into consideration both teachers’ and students’ feedback.

Role of partners

The Lithuanian and the Cypriot partner will be responsible to identify and secure the commitment of a minimum of five teachers/five schools for the testing and implementation period. They will be responsible for the local monitoring process of this phase, and in coordination with the project team develop a monitoring strategy and questionnaires. They will visit the participating schools on a monthly basis. The Irish/ Scottish partner will act as expert and will travel to both Lithuania and Cyprus to visit the participating schools, and will hold evaluation meetings with the teachers.
