The project'Engaging citizens to reinvent democrac was born as an initiative of Zoe Apostolidou as follow up of Future Worlds Center's organisation of a number of other Structured Democratic Dialogues envisioned and implemented within the Reinventing Democracy initiative. It aims to bring together Cypriots of different age groups in an attempt to envision, conceptualize and design new models of democratic governance. The one-day workshop will be organized as an interactive co-laboratory, fully utilizing up-to-date methodologies and technologies of the science of structured democratic dialogue. The structured democratic dialogue methodology is a highly effective methodology that is employed for conflict resolution and which ensures that a variety of stakeholders represents the problem system of concern and that all stakeholders’ opinions are equally represented in the dialogic process. This project falls under the activities of the Cyprus Presidency.

Vision and Objectives

The project aims to generate an online platform for the collection and exchange of views of Cypriots of different age groups in an attempt to envision, conceptualize and design new models of democratic governance. Specifically, it aspires to create Joint Action Plans and Vision Maps to promote reforms of current systems of governance in their own ideal socio-political-economic environments.

Dissemination

A dissemination plan would be developed to produce:

  • Web-based portal and website;
  • Joint Action Plans and Vision Maps to promote reforms of current systems of governance in their own ideal socio-political-economic environments.
