The seminiferous tubules of the mammalian testis are the site of ongoing spermatogenesis in the adult. In the embryo, Primordial Germ Cells divide and migrate to the genital ridges. In males, the PGCs, known as gonocytes, home to the basement membrane of the seminiferous tubules and differentiate into spermatogonial stem cells.
