Description

The Conference "Time for Change: Responsible Supply Chains in the Cyprus Context" was organised in collaboration between the Global Education Unit of Future Worlds Center and CARDET and was under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Through looking at the global supply chains of supermarkets' own store brand food products, tropical fruit (bananas and pineapples) and metallic raw materials (gold, tin, tungsten, tantalum), we have a good overview of some of the more problematic supply chains, on social and environmental level. Beyond this, the main focus of the conference was to explore European legislation and relevant guidelines, different examples from national legislations, as to use them as examples to promote the harmonisation in local context and the need for collaboration in this framework.

The Conference was very successful in terms of a multi-stakeholder participation and; the results and recommendations coming out of the keynote speeches, discussions and workshops during the event.
