About the Organization

The Agenzia per la Promozione della Ricerca Europea is a non-profit research organisation, created upon the joint initiative of the Italian Ministry of Research and the European Commission in 1989, and grouping together more than 100 members, including both public and private research centres, industries, industrial associations, chambers of commerce, science parks and more than 50 universities, with the main objective to promote the participation on national and European RTD programmes. APRE received in 2001 the Quality Certification for its Project, Training and Promotion activities regarding research programmes (ISO EN 9001:2000). During its 25 years of experience APRE has been participating to several projects (about 90) co-financed by the European Commission (DG Research, DG Education and DG Enterprise).

APRE has a long-lasting experience in the EC Framework Programmes, which has started in the FP3, and that has continued during the subsequent ones (FP4, FP5 and FP6). In the Seventh Framework Programme and in Horizon 2020, APRE has been appointed by the Italian Ministry of Research and the European Commission as host organization of the Italian National Contact Points for all the themes and sectors. APRE is also member of the Enterprise Europe Network helping SMEs to make the most of the European marketplace. APRE owns two meeting rooms – one in Rome and one in Brussels – fully equipped to host trainings, seminars, expert groups, transfer of knowledge, and so on. A renamed experience in training activities (courses, workshops, info-days and seminars) complete its skills. APRE’s most relevant capabilities encompass:

  • a strong experience in the Executive Management as project coordinator (17 in FP7, 4 in FP6) or WP leader in management of medium-size and large-size projects, progressmonitoring (financial and technical) and reporting to the European Commission, expert incontractual issues;
  • a significant aptitude in dissemination activities: coordinator of Support Actions for the dissemination of research results, APRE is also WP leader for the Dissemination WPs in many EC funded projects, including NCPs networks;
  • an extensive knowledge of the International Cooperation area, as coordinator or partner of projects funded under the FP7 INCO Programme, as well as FP7 thematic projects oriented to international cooperation. Targeted countries are: Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Egypt, Ghana, India, Japan, Mexico, Russia, South Africa, Thailand, USA, Western Balkan, Mediterranean, Eastern Partnership, Central Asia, Central America, Caribbean, and the Pacific region;
  • a renamed experience in training activities (courses, workshops, info-days and seminars), integrated by some facilities fully equipped to host trainings, seminars, expert groups, transfer of knowledge, and so on.
