Joint Declaration on Citizenship and Participation was formulated from extensive structured dialogue sessions built upon three previous workshops held in 2008 in Nicosia, Cyprus in March, in Pisa, Italy in July and in Timisoara, Romania in September.
The European Structured Dialogue Workshops explored challenges of youth participation in European activities, encouraged participants to jointly develop characteristics of an ideal society that is culturally diverse and inclusive, and to identify the obstacles that we face to reach this ideal European society.
Additionally, 28 participants affiliated with youth organisations in Latvia, Poland, Slovakia, France, Italy, Greece, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Cyprus, as well as a European network registered in Spain participated in the “European Conference on Youth Inclusion and Youth Participation” on 6 – 9 November 2008 in Larnaca, Cyprus. The conference was organised by Future Worlds Center to conclude the European Project “Uniting for Citizenship and Participation: Youth Promoting Vulnerable Groups’ Rights, Opportunities and Knowledge. It focused on an ideal European Youth Environment, based on Diversity, Human Rights, Social Inclusion and Active Citizenship, in which youth participate.
