Social and business entrepreneur; neuroscientist and systems engineer. Laouris promotes the application of digital technologies and structured democratic dialogue as tools to harness the collective intelligence and collective wisdom of people. His team develops systems to scale up participatory processes to engage asynchronously thousands of participants in meaningful authentic dialogues, thus accelerating positive societal change. They implemented 100+ global projects, in peace and conflict resolution, local reforms, re-inventing democracy and education in the digital era, etc. In the 90’s he founded CYBER Kids (futureworlds.eu/wiki/CYBER_KIDS); chain of franchised computer learning centers, grounded on cybernetics, which introduced IT in the lives of thousands of children in Cyprus and 7 other countries. Founder of CYBERETHICS: Cyprus Safer Internet Center, served as national representative in European and International bodies, including the Institute for 21st Century Agoras, COST Actions, Insafe, Inhope, EU Kids online, ECSO, Cybercrime Centre of Excellence, ECTEG – Europol, etc. He is one of the 12 authors of the European Commission’s ONLIFE Manifesto. Has published in neuroscience, applied systems science and peace, and in neuroscience of learning; Medical degree and PhD in Neurophysiology, Germany; MS in Systems & Industrial Engineering, US; PhD in Systems Engineering, UK. Published several books, 100+ scientific papers; honored with 12 distinguished awards. | |||
