Takis is an active supporter of human rights, one of few politician honestly interested about the Cyprus problem with forward looking positions supporting the struggle for a settlement. He debates regularly on live TV programs on the Cyprus problem. He demonstrates great interest for the rights of vulnerable groups and serves in the board of the Unit of Rehabilitation of Victims of Torture and has also sensitivities towards children's rights and served in the Advisory Board of Cyberethics and of the Unit for the Rehabilitation of Victims of Torture.

Takis became famous while working as freelancer for the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation through his TV talk show "Χωρίς Πλαίσια" (Without Borders),[1] which covered controversial issues touching upon the more difficult aspects of Cyprus history. Between 1995 and 2007 he served as the Managing Director of Radio Astra 92.8 from where he invited Yiannis Laouris, Dinos Georgiades and George Vakanas to run a live radio program for 3 years named Journeys in Cyberspace. .

Takis is also a philosopher and writer. He has published two poetry collections (1987, 1999) and a book (2004), which includes interviews he conducted when working as a journalist.


Political Life

Takis served in the House of Representatives of Cyprus as a member of the House Standing Committee on Educational Affairs, of the House Standing Committee on European Affairs, of the House Standing Committee on Financial and Budgetary Affairs and of the House Standing Committee on Internal Affairs.
