Nicolina Markidou was with Future Worlds Center from 2009 to 2012, and worked in the Global Education Unit. She had initially collaborated with the organization as an associate for the development of a teachers’ manual in the framework of the EU-funded project “Accessing Development Education”. From July 2009 until February 2012 she worked with the organization on several projects. Nicolina has been coordinator of the EU-funded project “Jumpstart the Peace”, aiming at promoting communication and collaboration between Greek-Cypriot and Turkish-Cypriot youth in Cyprus, but also contributed to Development Education trainings and activities in the framework of the EU-funded project “Accessing Development Education” and “Youth Activism” project funded by the UNDP. In 2010-2011 she coordinated the EU-funded project “MDGs-Media for Development Goals” concerned with the creation of media materials for the MDGs. She also contributed to the EU-funded project ‘TeachMDGs’ concerned with the creation of teaching resources on the MDGs, as well as with the implementation of teacher trainings. Nicolina is a holder of BA degree in Greek Philology (specialization in Classics) from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, as well as of an MA Degree in Cultural and Media Studies from University of the West of England, Bristol. Nicolina has worked as a teacher of Greek Language to immigrant students in Nicosia. She is interested in many social issues and cultural politics of Cypriot,society and ways of dealing with them through formal and informal education.She has also worked in the private sector, as well as with the Pedagogical Institute, Cyprus.Since 2020 she has been working as a Greek Language and Humanities teacher.
