Summary

Peace and friendship were strengthened between the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities through this UNDP/UNOPS funded project. As a continuation of the Youth Promoting Peace Initiative, a variety of activities were held to enhance the quality and depth of participants' knowledge, and increase the quantity and diversity of the project's beneficiaries. Activities included:

  • A series of ten workshops -eight mono-communal and two bi-communal- focused on the Cyprus Problem, historic issues, drugs, globalization, the environment, and more.
  • Bi-Communal mass events held in Pyla, Pergamos Park, and Ledras Palace. These events include a music festival, sports activities, a youth conference and a party. The convivial atmosphere provides an opportunity for Turkish and Greek Cypriots to collaborate and communicate; to learn coexistence is possible.
  • Euro-Med Seminar: ten Y2P participants, three Turkish Cypriots, and four Greek Cypriots will be invited to take part in a Euro-Med seminar titled "Finding 'Common Ground': Conflict Resolution and Mediation Through Focusing on the Environment".
  • Y2P Movie Screening.
