On February 7th, Safer Internet Day 2012, the Cyprus Safer Internet Center organized a conference in Nicosia to celebrate the day. There was a welcoming message from a representative of the Ministry of Education & Culture and from Mr. [[Alexandros Alexandrou]] (Head of Internet Services, [[CYTA - Cyprus Telecommunications Authority]]). First presenter at this event was Mr. Stavros Kondaktzis, Chief Strategist from Avacom Media that talked about the Social Media as a personal case. Second presenter was Mrs. Magdalini Zafiropoulou, Electronic Mechanic member of the EEXI that talked about Social Media and personal data protection. Mrs. Fotini Mavromati, Consultant/Psychologist for the P&A Kyriakou Children’s Hospital followed and talked about teenagers and the Internet: research and experiences from the Teenage Health program. Following Mrs. Mavromati, was Mrs. [[Anastasia Economou]] (Head of the Department of Educational Technology of the [[Cyprus Pedagogical Institute]]) that presented the top 10 videos chosen from the SID 2012 Cyprus Video Competition. At the end of the presentation of the 10 videos the top 3 winning videos were awarded the preannounced gift (an i-pad per participating winning student), offered by [[CYTA - Cyprus Telecommunications Authority]]! After the presentations a discussion between the students, parents, authorities, experts and members of the audience was held, coordinated by Dr. [[Yiannis Laouris]]. The discussion turned out to be very interesting and productive.
