About Project Psycho-Social Support to Asylum Seekers
Overall objective(s)
The project aims to provide social welfare services and psychosocial support to asylum seekers in Cyprus at a national level. It will attempt to inform them for their rights such as employment, housing, material standards for reception, medical care and public assistance. In addition it will provide support to any psychological dysfunctions or/and other social problems they may face.
Specific objective(s)

The proposal’s main aim is to provide social aid and psychosocial support to asylum seekers in Cyprus at a national level. It will attempt to reduce psychological dysfunctions and other social problems as well as to inform them for their rights such as employment, housing, material standards for reception, medical care and public assistance. The suggested programme will offer the following services:

  • The development of interagency collaboration network for the smooth operation of the project as to make the transition of asylum seekers to the community the easiest possible
  • Provision of social support services to cover issues such as housing, job, human rights and other relevant to their residence in Cyprus
  • Provision of psychological support services
The project aims to improve asylum seekers living conditions in Cyprus with regard to their social situation and their psychological state.
Expected Results
Another general point is the knowledge we are going to earn from this joined collaborative initiative, in particular you as both students and young professionals. Our aim is to establish "inter-professional bridges" where different professions will work together for the benefits of asylum seekers.
