| Coming from Cyprus, a divided island in an ongoing conflict, he developed an interest in exploring ethnically and historically created conflicts. His interest is reflected through his work in several NGOs in Cyprus where he volunteered and worked towards bringing peace on the island. In 2007, he worked as a communications and events officer at the NGO Support Center, on a [[UNDP/UNOPS]] - [[USAID]] funded bi-communal peace building project on strengthening the [[Cyprus Civil Society]]. He has also worked in public elementary schools, educating tomorrow’s generations towards peaceful co-existence. Today Marios continues his studies at the University of North Carolina, studying for a Ph.D. in the Department of Education’s ‘Culture, Curriculum and Change’ program. He aims to focus his research on how conflict resolution and reconciliation leading to social peace can be best promoted through formal education systems in conflicted and post conflicted countries. Marios collaborated with [[Future Worlds Center]] in the [[Youth Promoting Peace]] project.
