Yiannis Laouris is a social, science and business entrepreneur, a neuroscientist and systems engineer. He has a medical degree (score 1.5-very good) from Leipzig University (Germany), a PhD in Neurophysiology with summa cum laude from Karl-Ludwig Institute (Leipzig) and an MS in Systems and Industrial Engineering (GPA 4.0) from the University of Arizona. In his early career he conducted research in neuro-motor control using applied digital signal processing in time and frequency domains to analyse single-unit recordings from experimental animals. In 1992 he returned to Cyprus and founded the Cyprus Neuroscience & Technology institute and CYBER KIDS. | ||
He is Member of the Board of the Institute for 21st Century Agoras, national representative in several COST Actions, Insafe, Inhope, EU Kids online, ECSO, Cybercrime Centre of Excellence, ECTEG – Europol, etc. He is one of the 12 authors of the ONLIFE Manifesto on behalf of the Digital Futures Task Force of the European Commission, which now guides EC funding priorities, as well as political and societal priorities in the hyper-connectivity era. He is Co-Founder and Director of CYBERETHICS: Cyprus Safer Internet Center.
