Enhancing the Local Government Reform in Cyprus is a project that began on 01.01. 2023 and is expected to continue until the 30.06.2025.

The project aims to strengthen the ‘capacity of local authorities to provide good democratic governance and high-quality services to their citizens, according to European Standards”. The Cyprus Government has subcontracted the implementation of this project to the Council of Europe, and more specifically the Centre of Expertise for Good Governance (CEGG). The CEGG leads the project, working with the Ministry of Interior of Cyprus, as well as other relevant stakeholders. Throughout, the CEGG will offer policy advice to key authorities, organizing a peer review, updating the National training and Capacity-Building Strategy for the local government, and offer ‘capacity building activities’ to staff and elected representatives of local authorities.

The CEGG has selected about 10 local experts to execute three series of trainings. The following Future Worlds Center experts have been assigned the delivery of the training modules.

Marcus Hallside assumed the role of project management.
