The ICONS project was one of the many initiatives under the general title Technology for Peace. It was funded by the United States Institute of Peace and USAID through a grant awarded to Hrach Gregorian. It was hosted for free by CYBER KIDS. Using two peace cyber cafes, one in the South and one in the North of Nicosia, it allowed peace builders from both sides to use a program called ICONS developed by the University of Maryland.
