Xenia was Project Coordinator for Youth Promoting Peace and several other projects between 2002 and 2005. She also served as Secretary of the Board between 2002-2007. She continues to serve as Member of the Advisory Board for Cyberethics. Now she is member of the N.E.T.S. Board of Trustees.

Short Bio

Xenia studied Political Science at the University of Cyprus and completed a Master in International Relations from the Univ. of Essex, UK. Before joining Future Worlds Center (at that time: Cyprus Neuroscience & Technology Institute), she was employed as a Research Assistant for the Univ. of Cyprus for projects "Women and Politics," Volunteerism, and " "Turkey's Foreign Policy on Cyprus".

Pioneer in the promotion of rapprochement

Xenia served as full-time coordinator of the bi-communal UNDP/UNOPS-funded youth group Youth Promoting Peace (Y2P) between the fall of 2002 and the fall of 2003. Xenia is a strong supporter of the reunification of Cyprus and has been active in many bicommunal forums. She has accumulated experience in EU programs having received funding for a EUROMED project prepared by her in the framework of Y2P. She also served as Researcher for Eucitizenship.net, as Administrator for EUMEDIS project MedPride, and as the Manager for a Leonardo project Biblio.For.Meda.

Xenia deserves special credit for an extraordinary activity in facilitating, mobilizing and supporting youth in envisioning and implementing an impressive number of activities documented here the context of Youth Promoting Peace.


Xenia served as Vice-President of the European Youth Forum and Chair of the European Steering Committee for the Structured Dialogue. She is currently working as research officer at the UCY in the Proposals Preparation Office as expert on European grants. She was a candidate for the 2011 parliament elections with the Democratic Rally and she was elected as member of the 20-member Politburo in 2012.
