Panel Discussion in Dassoupoli: 17 June, 2008
Panelists: George Zikas (Human Rights and Education Network), Michalis Kefalonitis
The Panel Discussion was organized by the Cyprus Adult Education Association at the ‘Friendship’ hotel in Dasoupoli/ Nicosia on 17 June at 6.00 pm. Topic of the Discussion was intercultural dialogue and intercultural communication.
The Panel Discussion was chaired by Mr. Symeonides. 20 guests from Cape Town/ South Africa presented examples of intercultural communication and the challenges of intercultural dialogue in South Africa and engaged in a lively discussion with the Cypriot audience.
The main discussion was around the issue of the multi-community structure of the two countries and how especially teachers, parents, and the community can contribute to a constructive dialogue across ethnic boundaries and help strengthens trust and peace within the society.
