Overview
EXODUS S.A is the coordinating partner. Having experience in project coordination and high expertise regarding distance and mobile learning applications and (multimedia) educational content development, EXODUS will carry out the technical design and develop the distance learning application, its tools, and the respective content, based on the storyboards designed by the consortium. Within the project EXODUS will also be the administrative and technical coordinator and quality manager. EXODUS is a software company that designs, creates and markets software solutions and services in several business and application areas primarily addressed to the banking, financial services and telecoms industries, but also in areas such as e-business, e-health, e-learning, business process management, collection, wireless applications. The company has internally developed and maintained a wide product portfolio: eCentric, iCare, eLearn, iPerform, eispraxis, and demonstrates a large number of customers and applications (winbank, WIND, VODAFONE, OTENET, Greek ministries and wider public sector, etc). Currently, Exodus employs 120 highly skilled professionals in areas such as software engineering & web development, project and product management, account management and presales engineering. EXODUS has been awarded major awards for technological innovation and commitment to excellence. EXODUS has 15 years of experience in e-Learning solutions development, acquired from the development and commercialisation of their eLearn platform. The company has participated in many R&D e-Learning projects which have enriched EXODUS core eLearn platform with services concerning skill management, metadata handling, standards compliance, dynamic reporting capabilities and efficient integration within corporate environments. The company is currently planning to enrich their platform by developing mobile learning applications and services. Website: http://www.exodus.gr/ KMOP will be involved in most phases of the project, including the identification of the educational needs of migrants, the development of learning methodology and the formative tool, the pilots phases as well as disseminations activities. The Greek pilot learning centre will be set-up by KMOP. Founded in 1977, KMOP is an Athens-based NGO that focuses on issues pertaining to social welfare and health, employability and employment generation, scientific research and the development of know-how in social policy issues. Since its establishment, KMOP has undertaken numerous projects, many in collaboration with large well-established organizations, both in Greece and internationally, targeting a wide variety of societal groups, such as elderly, mentally ill, unemployed, migrants, refugees, etc. KMOP promotes the development of civil society by supporting initiatives for the protection of the individual, political, social and human rights and implementing European projects for the enhancement of the citizens’ active participation and the empowerment of social dialogue. KMOP provides comprehensive support to immigrants, long-term unemployment and those with low professional qualifications, people with disabilities, women in difficult situations and youngsters at risk of dropping out of school. KMOP has also conducted research in the area of migration and examined how it is related to the issue of the needs for carers for the elderly in Greek society. One of KMOP’s areas of special expertise concern vocational and educational training as well as mental health. Website: http://www.kmop.gr/ UoP’s (University of Peloponnese, Greece) research team will be responsible for the content and the educational approach, and methodology of the learning application; the latter will address computer and language learning, as well as civic/legislation information for guidance of new comers in the host countries - the receiving labour markets and societies. Moreover, they will develop the methodology for evaluating the system during the pilot use phase. During the 12 years of its operation, the UOP has been very active in undertaking numerous projects, many in collaboration with other academic, regional or non-governmental organisations in Greece and internationally, targeting a wide variety of issues. In brief, UOP promotes Research and Development particularly in the field of ICT, education and social policy, by supporting related initiatives and projects of National and European implementation. On this ground, UOP has acquired a vast expertise in Operational Programs for Education and Lifelong Learning (mainly funded by the Hellenic Ministry of Education, the Hellenic Secretariat for Research and Technology, and the EU). A major line of the University’s R&D has focused on projects concerning: Formal, Informal and Distance Learning (Conventional and e-Learning forms); Social Discriminations, Migration and Citizenship; the Integration of the African Migrants in the Greek receiving Community, etc. Website: http://www.uop.gr/ Anziani e non solo soc. Coop. (ANS) will be identifying a user group of 30 migrant workers from Romania in Italy; setting-up the information and language learning centre in Italy so that the users can have access to the DLA and all other courseware; providing input, and advice concerning the use and content of the learning material; disseminating the DLA and its accompanying material to other related migrant groups. Anziani e Non Solo is a cooperative society created in 2004 with the aim to work in the domain of social innovation. ANS areas of intervention are EU and national projects, formal and informal training, e-learning, social researches, welfare policies towards vulnerable targets such as migrants, women, elderly and disabled, people at risk of poverty. ANS has a specific expertise in supporting social and professional inclusion of migrants and specifically of women working in the care sector, providing training and orientation. ANS has developed an e-learning course for care workers used so far by over 1.000 people nation-wide, as well as an ICT-based method for the validation of skills informally acquired by care workers which was acknowledged as a best practice by the Italian Agency for the LLP-LDV Programme. ANS has also expertise in the field of social research concerning the social and professional needs of migrant women in Italy and in training trainers and professionals operating in the field of migrant inclusion. ANS is member of relevant networks that will play an important role in dissemination and exploitation of the project: the Italian National Antidiscrimination Network (gathering all the organisations working in the field of Equal Opportunities) and the Italian National Register of Organisation Working with Migrants. Website: http://www.anzianienonsolo.it/ Cyprus Neuroscience and Technology Institute (CNTI) will be responsible for identifying 30 migrant workers in Cyprus from Bulgaria; setting-up information and language learning centre in Cyprus where migrants will be able to access the DLA, all available courseware and other content; involving end users, i.e. migrants, in the project from its beginning; providing input and advice for the approach and content regarding the learning process; promoting the DLA and its accompanying material to target groups, i.e. migrants from Bulgaria and disseminating the DLA and all other informative material. Cyprus Neuroscience and Technology Institute - Future Worlds Center (CNTI) is a non-profit, non-governmental, non-partisan independent organization active in programs with future orientation in areas related to human brain - modern technology - social transformation and the repercussions of relevant research for humanity. CNTI’s scope of projects involves the application of technology towards social transformation as well as bridging literacy, economic, and digital divides. It is a supporter of IT education (e.g., Internet, Second Life, Skype, and mobile phones), scientific research, and peace in the three continents around Cyprus. Moreover, CNTI aims at the sensitization, enlightenment, and development of an active civil society in Cyprus. CNTI has extensive experience in coordinating, conducting, and supervising projects, trainings, conferences, and workshops beyond national boundaries with the use of modern technology for education. Its competencies are development of new educational models based on cognitive science and computing, world-wide operations focused on international development, and enhancement of inter-ethnic and international peace. Overall objective(s)
The project’s main goal is to enhance migrants’ quality of life and facilitate their integration to local society by improving their access to language training courses and other guidance and counselling material. Such marginalised social groups will be therefore assisted to become active members of the receiving society
